Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ’s) About Physical Therapy Excersises

Q. Can physical therapy really help me?

A. We are confident that our Pacific Beach physical therapists can help you feel and live better if you currently suffer from pain in your back, shoulders, neck, knees, and/or wrists. Unable to enjoy the activities you once were able to? Our experienced physical therapists will help you identify the source of your discomfort /dysfunction and will address other specific concerns, so they can develop an effective personalized treatment program specific to your ideal healing needs. Treatment programs generally involve manual physical therapy exercises and other targeted solutions. One of our Pacific Beach physical therapists will also help you develop a home exercise program, so you can understand proper body function for better injury prevention. At Isis Physical Therapy, we are experienced, helpful and compassionate professionals who want to help you feel your best again.

Q. How do I get started?

A. California State law requires individuals to get a prescription from a medical doctor of chiropractor before beginning physical therapy. We invite you to schedule an evaluation at any time even without a prescription; fate has it that we are located in an Integrative Health Center, which means we can quickly get you an appointment.

When you arrive at Isis Physical Therapy for the first time, please be ready to provide:

  1. Your insurance card
  2. Referral or prescription for physical therapy (exercises) from your primary care provider
  3. Payment for any applicable co-pay

For subsequent visits, please keep us informed if any of your information has changed, such as insurance, physical address, or physician.

For evaluation or treatments to see which physical therapy exercises will be best for you, you may need to change into a patient gown. However, if you are most comfortable in your own shorts, t-shirt, or tank top, please make sure to bring them with you.

Our initial evaluation with you will help our Pacific Beach physical therapists create the most effective treatment plan to help you recover from injury or dysfunction. Your physical therapist will spend time with you to evaluate your joint movements, tissue restrictions, etc. We will then set personal goals for you, and we will establish the physical therapists goals for you as well. Every time you visit with us, we will re-evaluate your goals to see if any adjustments are needed.

Q. Will my insurance cover physical therapy?

A. In most cases, insurance will cover physical therapy treatment. However, each plan is different, so we suggest checking with your provider. Please feel free to contact us and we will provide you with assistance in determining your eligibility.

Q. How long is each physical therapy visit?

A. Most appointments, including evaluation, last one to two hours. Subsequent visits last about thirty to forty-five minutes, depending on your treatment plan and the physical therapy exercises you need. Our SD golf exercise programs vary in time as well. Q. Will you teach me how to handle my condition when I am at home?

A. At Isis Physical Therapy, we provide you with an ‘in office’ therapy program, along with an ‘at home’ therapy program. Our Pacific Beach physical therapists educate you and your family, and any other caregivers, about your current conditions, treatment plans, and goals.

Q. Can you tell us more about the SD golf exercises and programs you provide as well?

A. Thank you for asking! We are extremely proud of our Fit At The Tee Advantage program and our Golf Fitness programs. Golfers just like you have improved the quality of their golf game, thanks to the SD golf exercises we suggest and teach. Visit our services page to learn more.
